  1. Well, you certainly have researched what non-believers
are all about. But so what?

I believe it all to be an
exercise in futility, because you are still a person of faith and not able to understand the thinking of a non-believer.
The fact that you are Jewish, at least that's my understanding from your profile, you are part of the original religion of the middle east. Then came Christianity, Islam, Mormanism, Scientology and the Icecapades as George Carlin stated.

As a non-believer or atheist or agnostic, whatever label they use these days, we just don't see any credibility in the writings of the old testament, the many new testaments or the Quoran.
We believe they were all written by men who had ulterior motives. It is plain to see when you read these texts that they are a means to control others. I guess that was needed in ancient times when the tribes were all running amok killing and looting each other.

It was necessary to scare these ignorant tribesmen with a
spooky control figure who had huge abilities to make them suffer if they didn't toe the line. They were all superstitious and believed thunder and lightening to be the work of some god or other. Earthquakes and other natural disasters helped spook them as well.

Enter the thinkers. Here's a chance to make up a bogey man and scare the crap out of these ignorant tribesmen.
Besides, the thinkers figured this was a good way
to be treated with great respect and receive food etc
    without really getting dirty
like the rest. Let's face it, they were the Pat Robertsons, Jerry Falwels, Benny Hinns and Peter Poppofs of this day and age. In fact
the religions of today are all huge money making corporations and will fight tooth and nail to keep the
bull shit going on and on.

Believe me, you can write all the words you want but it will make no difference to clear thinking people. We know the world is spherical and not flat and that it revolves around the sun.

A god that doesn't show himself and does nothing to correct the problems we face today really isn't worth praying to for any kind of help. Don't tell me that we await this god's attention until we die, because that makes no sense either.

  2. Aspentroll;
    Thanks for the comments.
I sympathize with you because I understand at least one thing about atheists quite well: atheism offers you the consoling delusion of elite erudition.
I understand that atheism leads you to believe that you, yes you, you modern day atheist, are one of the most well informed people who have ever lived in the entire history of the human race.
I also understand that you see yourself, yes your very own self, as the highest being in existence.

It is no wonder that atheists must labor so diligently to gesticulate enough to be able to look so very far down their noses at those with whom they disagree. After all, according to atheists, atheists are right and everyone else is wrong.

Seriously, listen to yourself: you actually tell me that I am “not able to understand the thinking of a non-believer”—I actually lack the ability, the very capability.

You commit at least two logical fallacies known as the ad hominem and the non sequitur when you imply that God does not exist because human being invented the idea of God. This is an ad hominem because you are attacking the source of the argument rather than the argument. For example, the claim that humans invented the idea and that those humans had ulterior motives. It is a non sequitur because human may not have invented the idea but discovered it since God could have put into the human mind the idea of His existence.

Are you implying that atheism, particularly the New Atheism sect, is not a huge money making industry? You condemn televangelist shysters, and rightly so. But you are a few millennia behind the Bible in doing so. Here is some of that the Bible teaches about these shysters:

Micah 3:11 “Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money.”

1st Timothy 6:3-5 refers to those “who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.”

2nd Peter 2:1-3 “But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you…In their greed these teachers will exploit you.”

Acts 8:18-23 “When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money and said, ‘Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.’ Peter answered: ‘May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.’”

You also touched upon something else that I know about atheists, their stunning lack of skepticism and propensity to concoct and believe in myths. For example, you promulgate the atheist flat Earth myth (which I dealt with here). You also mention that the Earth revolves around the sun as if this was not a natural part of the progression of astronomical knowledge (I provided information of this issue in two places: one dealing with Copernicus and the other with Galileo).

You misrepresent the concept of God’s actions or lack thereof in the world. But then again, maybe you are not able to understand.

    aDios,
    Mariano

  3. Let us consider the fallacy in the very statement in which we find out that “An Atheist has no specific belief system.” We are told that “An Atheist has no religious belief…We are not a ‘religion,’” also, “We accept only that which is scientifically verifiable,” and since supernatural concepts are unverifiable, “we do not accept them.” These are very specific and rigid beliefs for an organization that claims to hold “no specific belief system.”

You are confusing a criterion with a belief. Choosing to reject magical thinking is the application of a criterion of acceptance, a filter if you prefer, not a belief. If you take Euclid at face value then conventional euclidian geometry IS geometry. If you vary the 5th axiom (parallel) then you allow elliptical and hyperbolic geometries. Which variant of the 5th postulate to use is a choice, not a belief.

Also, given the diversity of positions atheists hold that you gloss, it seems evident that there is indeed "no specific belief system" beneath it.
