Shermer’s Chivalry

    I could be wrong, but "restricting you into giving a yes or no answer" does not constitute a false dichotomy. It seems you just don't like the outcome of being led "where Shermer wants to take you." You may not like it, but that doesn't make it a logical fallacy.

    Maybe Shermer is just correct?

    Religious people posit: "there is morality if and only if there is God." Shermer takes that logic and says: "there is no God. Therefore there is no morality."

    He hypothetically says there is no God, and takes that to its logical conclusion, given the assertion of the theists and religious.

    Pretty simple.

  2. Good point in noting that it is not necessarily a false dichotomy.

    But it is one and I explained why.
